Is this a new mutation?

Description : Male Pacific Mutation Pacific Parrotlet - Coloring Blue
Species - Forpus coelestis lucida

A few years ago, we came across several pairs of green Pacifics that had bright yellow faces. Although we did not know if these birds were mutations or if this trait could be passed on, we decided to introduce this characteristic into one line of blues. This is breathtaking male is the result.

This bird has not yet reached maturity but he molted in at six months with white feathers on the cheeks and forehead. Each day, more white feathers appear on the head and face. The body of the bird is a beautiful powder blue which is quite striking against the white face.
