Green Rump Parrotlet (Forpus passerinus passerinus)
Green Rump parrotlets are the smallest of the parrotlets weighing around 22 grams and less than five inches in length. They have a delicate, streamlined body with a small beak in proportion to their heads. The beaks and legs are horn-colored. Predominantly apple-green, the females have a patch of yellow feathers between their eyes above their nostrils. The males have bright, cobalt blue on their primary wing feathers while the secondaries are turquoise. They are the only species of parrotlet in which the males have green rumps instead of blue. Green Rumps are gentle, shy and rather timid (especially compared to Pacifics) who rarely bite. They are a commonly bred species with almost no aggression between pairs.

Green Rump Parrotlet (Forpus passerinus cyanochlorus)
The females of this sub species exhibit a green coloring that is a bit more yellowish than in the nominate.

Green Rump Parrotlet (Forpus passerinus cyanophanes)
The males of this sub species exhibit darker green feathering all over the body as compared to the nominate.  In addition the blue is more of a violet-blue on the wings and form a conspicuous patch on the closed wing.

TPR Green RumpGreen Rump Parrotlet (Forpus passerinus deliciosus)
The males of this sub species exhibit an emerald green coloring tinged with blue on the rump. The upper tail coverts are greenish-yellow and the blue is more of a violet-blue and is edged with pale green. The females have more yellow on their faces than the nominate.

Green Rump Parrotlet (Forpus passerinus viridissimus)
The males of this sub species exhibit darker green feathering all over the body as compared to the nominate. In addition the blue is a darker blue and more strongly tinged. They also have a violet-blue patch on the lesser under wing-coverts. Females have a broad patch of yellow on the face, more so than any other sub species.
